Marketing in Beer Land!

Writer's picture: Allison Beer LandAllison Beer Land

There really is something special about seeing people drink your beers in the wild. On a beautiful day, at the ballpark with the sun shining, life is good, right? And even if they are selling your beers at an event for a sport you didn't play, it's still a lovely sentiment. This was the first time my beers had been sold outside the brewery and they were being sold at the local baseball stadium. It was just a triple A team in a mid-sized midwestern city but it was neat.

Along with the beer sales, the ballpark gave the brewery season tickets. They were in the first row, right behind third base. It was really neat to be at grass level for the games but being in foul ball territory meant that you had to pay attention. This wasn't only foul ball territory though, it was right on the edge of home-run territory. Go figure.

So here I was, at the ballpark with my kid and my good friend and her kid too who was about the same age as my kid, enjoying the baseball game and my beers. All is good. Life is good. And then all of a sudden, CRACK! And the crowd went wild!

We looked up! The ball was headed directly towards us! My kid stood up and started up the aisle toward where the ball was directed. The ball landed a few rows over in a section that was empty but the hit was a home run! The crowd went wild!

As my kid got to the ball, and leaned over to pick it up, a smaller kid from a nearby section had also made their way to the homerun ball. Just as my kid rose up with the ball, his face appeared on the jumbo screen! Without missing a beat, my kid turned and handed the baseball to the younger fan! The stadium went wild again! This time, though, it was for my kid.
